Raft

Science & inspiration

The Restoration of Appearance and Function Trust (RAFT) celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2018 – and they did it in style. We worked with this incredible charity for over 2 years, distilling three decades of life-changing medical innovations into 100 pages.

It’s hard to explain just how much of an impact RAFT has had on the world of medical science. The charity invented laser hair removal surgery, influenced a global change in the way suncreams are graded and helped to save thousands of lives with its work on developing new pressure sore treatments.

Today the charity is investing in research projects that have the potential to have a global reach. Innovations like Smart Matrix could offer a blemish-free future for those who have experienced significant burns and its breast reconstruction techniques could help change the lives of those recovering mastectomy. They’re just two of the many projects that scientists are working on in this quiet corner of north London.

We started working with RAFT in 2016, interviewing key stakeholders including Cherie Blair and Sir Norman Tebbit, as well as the people who had benefited from the work of RAFT. Once the words were written, we designed and published the perfect bound book you can see below.
